By Ron Young, StFYC Wednesday Yachting Luncheon Chair — This Wednesday’s speaker will be Tom Ehman, Founder and CEO, San Francisco Yacht Racing Challenge.

LUNCHEON, 11:45AM I SPEAKER, 12:30PM I Q&A, 1:15PM. Title of Tom’s talk is:

“Super 12s Annual Regatta—Wimbledon Meets the Masters on SF Bay.”

A consummate veteran of international yachting, Tom Ehman has long been at the forefront of managing our sport. Notably, Tom spearheaded modern on-the-water umpiring at the 1992 Cup in San Diego. He was a collegiate champion, youngest-ever Executive Director of US SAILING, head of the US delegation to ISAF and North American representative on the IYRU/ISAF Council. Since 1980, his America’s Cup roles have included advisor, team executive director, event manager and Chairman of the Challenger Commission. Now, Tom is launching the San Francisco Yacht Racing Challenge which he describes as, “an annual, international championship that will bring dignity, style and stability back to the sport. It will be the Wimbledon of yacht racing.”
